Menses – What’s Normal?

Follow this Q&A session with WebMD comments in Bold and Dr. Ramsey’s comments in italics.

Q: How much blood does the average woman lose during each period?

A: 2 tablespoons
While you can’t easily measure blood loss, most women know when their menstrual flow is heavy. If flow seems excessive, is soaking a pad or tampon every hour for several hours, or you see large clots, tell your doctor. …Read More

Salt – Essential For Life, Can Cause Death

We could not survive without salt. Our existence depends upon salt. At the same time we become very sick with salt. The difference between sickness and health is in the quality of salt.

All salt comes originally from the sea – whether it is current day sea, Dead Sea or an ancient seabed. The quality of the environment the salt is harvested from as well as the processing done to the harvested salt is everything. …Read More

Magnesium – The Miracle Mineral

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body and the most deficient. Most Americans have a magnesium deficiency, claims the World Health Organization. From the year 1900 to 2000 the average magnesium intake has dropped by 50%. The reason for this is that magnesium in foods is destroyed by processing. Magnesium is predominant in leafy greens and seeds. If you don’t eat a lot of these foods you are probably deficient as well. The minimum amount of magnesium needed by the body is 3 mg per pound. If you have anxiety or fatigue your needs are much greater. Magnesium both energizes and relaxes the body. Not many other elements have this amazing quality. …Read More

Skin: The Largest Organ of the Body

Skin is our sensor, shield, and communicator as well as a reflection of external beauty. The skin is made up of three layers called the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis.

The epidermis is the top layer of the skin, creating a barrier between our inner and outer worlds. It is very thin (thinner than paper) but tough.

The dermis is the second layer and is a much thicker containing the collagen that creates the flexibility and strength and firmness of youthful skin. The dermis contains nerve endings, sweat and oil glands, hair follicles, blood vessels and nerves.

Detoxification – A Way to Be “Proactive” Rather Than “Reactive”

The word “detoxification” has become a household name and experience over the past decade, after being defined as a “hoax” by multiple medical doctors because the traditional medical theory is that “our liver naturally detoxifies, and it is silly to think we have to make our bodies do it better.”

Do you breathe the air? Do you ever have social alcohol? Do you ever eat processed foods? Do you ever experience stress? Do you take medications either occasionally or daily? Are you over 25 years old? Do you have any symptoms that take away from you feeling absolutely amazing every day of your life? If you don’t have any symptoms, would you like to age as gracefully as possible? If you answer yes to any of these questions, you could use a little help cleansing your body. …Read More

The Many Miracles of Clay

Clay comes from volcanic ash. It is one of nature’s most medicinal elements. Clay cleanses and purifies the organism – especially the blood and is considered an anti-clogging agent. When the blood becomes thick and full of waste, the organism is only partially active because of the physical and energetic obstructions from toxic and infectious exposures and build-up.

NMD vs. MD

I am often asked what the difference is between an NMD (Naturopathic Medial Doctor) and a MD (Medical Doctor). The difference is in 3 areas:

  1. Educational training (see box 1)
  2. Philosophy (see last section of this article)
  3. Governing board that offers medical board exams and licenses

The first two years of medical training for both NMD’s and MD’s are nearly identical for training in the advanced sciences and diagnostic tools. The difference starts in year 3 and 4 when allopathic physicians differentiate into their specialties. NMD training continues to expand knowledge into the understanding of how the body functions as a whole and how each system affects the other, supporting the organism to function strongly as a whole. MD’s focus on surgery that enters major cavities and advanced pharmacology. …Read More

Did You Just Really Eat That? What Do Food Labels Tell You?

Our food industry is not one that cares about human health. It is a huge enterprise that is interested in one thing— money. This leads to creative marketing to brainwash people into thinking certain foods are good for us. What happens next is that more and more of these foods are eaten and we are getting sicker and sicker as a nation. What’s on a label? …Read More

Hypothyroidism, The Unsuspected Illness

Hypothyroidism is missed more than 80% of the time in medicine — because of how it is diagnosed. Prior to 1975, hypothyroidism (low thyroid function) was diagnosed by symptoms. The three top symptoms are fatigue, depression and pain. In 1975, a blood test was discovered that measured a certain hormone in the blood. It is called the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). This hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland and turns on the secretion of thyroid hormone (T3 and T4) from the thyroid gland. …Read More

Healthy Sinuses

Trillions of dollars are spent on over the counter as well as prescription drugs for sinus health from colds and flu’s to allergies to bacterial infections. There is a lot we can to do strengthen our sinus health to prevent the need for so many suppressive medications and here are a few.

First and foremost, sinus congestion is related to gut inflammation. Our digestive tract and our sinus tract are created from the same embryonic tissue while we are developing as an embryo. …Read More
