What role does nutritional supplementation play in creating optimal health?

FAQs

Nutritional supplementation, in my mind, is the best health insurance a person can buy. We live in a world where the food we eat is much less nutritious than what our ancestors ate. This is due to over cultivation, the advent of foods preservatives, the foods animals eat and hormones injected to produce more milk or larger chicken breasts and the pesticides sprayed on produce to maintain optimal crop levels. In addition to our foods being so adulterated, the environment we live in is much more toxic, placing a heavier than normal burden on the liver to cleanse the body.

Not all supplements improve overall health though. Only high quality supplements offer our cells the nutrition needed to function optimally and have a positive impact on our health. The necessary markers of a quality supplement are 1) made from a GMP-certified manufacturing facility, 2) comprehensive scientific evaluation of ingredients, 3) comprehensive safety reviews, 4) human clinical evaluations to assess safety and efficacy and 5) advanced scientific staff, equipment and facilities.

Supplements of poor quality tend to be less expensive, as they’re made by companies that do not invest in purity standard qualifications. These supplements can actually hinder your health because they contain dyes and colors to “enhance appeal,” and are made with binders and fillers that prevent absorption rendering false label claims.
